Most of us know there is air pollution outside but, did you know that your own home indoor air quality (IAQ) is more polluted?
There are many varieties of particulate pollutants in our homes. A recent study by the Queensland Institute of Technology showed that even your loved laser printer (for crafty moms out there) can be a high-level emitter of particulate matter. What else is in your home air? Airborne allergens, mold spores, bacteria, and dust mite/insect feces are also present.
Is your carpet the culprit? Should you remove all your carpets? The answer to this is a big NO. Why? Any movement or vibration can create airborne particles – even air moving over an apparently clean surface will pick up particles. The best thing to do is to trap this particles. Your carpet is your biggest air filter, trap them there.
What can you do next? Clean your carpet! when I say you, I don’t mean you. What I mean is have your biggest air filter, which is your carpet to be clean professionally. I am a DIY-er but this is one of those thing that I will not do myself. Professional carpet cleaners have access to products that really works. Professional carpet cleaners have a commercial grade vacuum and carpet cleaners. Commercial vacuum are design to reach deep your carpet and remove the trap particulate particles.
Your next decision is who should you call, not Ghost Buster’s this time 🙂 Let’s think about this…
- We are trying to eliminate indoor pollutant, I will call someone who do not use chemical.
- I will call someone who will not add molds growth, so not steamers.
- I am a mom of two boys, I will call someone that is using SAFE products for them.
- I am asthmatic, so one that is using NO smell cleaning product.
All of that above criteria, The Healthy Carpet is approved! Just saying…
